How Atlas Coast Was Born
Atlas Coast didn't start with a business plan. It started with frustration.
We spent years inside this industry — as agents, as hosts, as members of programs that overpromised and underdelivered. We watched agencies charge agents for the privilege of working. We saw commission structures so convoluted that agents didn't know what they'd actually earn until a check showed up (or didn't). We sat in recruiting calls that felt more like MLM pitches than professional partnerships.
And we kept thinking: it doesn't have to be this way.
Atlas Coast was built on a simple premise — that a host agency should exist to serve its agents, not the other way around. That transparency isn't a selling point; it's a baseline. That the people doing the actual work of building travel businesses deserve a partner who's honest about what they'll earn, what they'll owe, and what they'll get.
We're not the biggest host agency. We don't want to be. We want to be the one that agents actually trust — the one where you know the rules, you know your numbers, and you know someone's in your corner when it gets hard.
Melissa Newman, PhD — Founder & CEO
Most people know me as Professor Melissa — the travel influencer with an admittedly unhealthy obsession with cruises and a platform that somehow grew to over 30 million views a month. But before the cameras, before the content, I was sitting in the same seat you might be sitting in right now: a travel agent trying to figure out how to build a real business in an industry that didn't always make that easy.
I've been a travel agent for nearly four years, across two different host agencies. I've seen what the good ones get right. I've seen what the industry as a whole gets consistently wrong — the opacity, the MLM recruitment pressure, the commission structures that are more confusing than they need to be. And I spent a long time thinking about what a host agency would look like if it were actually built around the agent's success instead of its own.
That's Atlas Coast.
Outside of travel, I'm an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Cincinnati's Lindner College of Business, where I've taught leadership and organizational behavior for over a decade. I published my first book — Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations — with Routledge in 2024. I've been featured in Bloomberg, Barron's, MarketWatch, and the Wall Street Journal as an expert voice on the travel and hospitality industry.
I bring all of that — the academic rigor, the industry experience, the platform — to Atlas Coast. And my job here is simple: make sure you have everything you need to succeed.
Bati — COO, Atlas Coast Travel Group
Bati brings deep operational expertise and a genuine love for the travel industry to his role as COO of Atlas Coast Travel Group. He's the one who makes sure the systems work, the processes are clear, and agents have what they need to run their businesses without unnecessary friction.
Behind the scenes, Bati oversees the infrastructure that keeps Atlas Coast running — from agent onboarding and support workflows to operational strategy and team coordination. He's focused on building systems that scale without losing the personal, high-touch experience that defines Atlas Coast's culture.
His approach is simple: if an agent is confused, frustrated, or stuck, that's an operational problem — and operational problems get fixed. He works closely with Melissa and the broader team to make sure the agent experience is as smooth and transparent as the values Atlas Coast was built on.

Our Commitments — In Writing
We know that "trust us" isn't good enough in this industry. So here's what we're committing to, in plain language, with no fine print.
No MLM. Ever. Atlas Coast is a host agency, not a recruiting operation. You will never be pressured to recruit other agents. Your success here is measured by your bookings, not by how many people you bring in below you.
Transparent commissions. You'll always know exactly what you're earning and why. No mystery deductions. No confusing tier structures. Every booking, every line item — clear and straightforward.
Zero fees, always. There are no monthly fees, no training fees, no technology fees, no hidden charges. What you earn from your bookings stays yours.
Paid on time. When a commission hits, you get paid. We don't hold your money, delay it, or attach strings to it. Your income is yours and we'll get it to you without unnecessary friction.
Ready to build something real?
If you've been waiting for a host agency that actually makes sense — one that's honest about what you'll earn, what it costs (nothing), and what you'll get — Atlas Coast might be exactly what you're looking for.
We're not for everyone. We're for agents who are serious about building a real travel business, who want a team behind them, and who are done settling for less than they deserve.
