Airbnb, Booking.com, Uber, and Lyft are consumer apps. They have no travel agent program, no commission structure for professional agents, and no relationship with Atlas Coast credentials. Every booking made through them goes through your personal consumer account, not your agent account.
That creates three problems. No commission flows to you or through Atlas Coast. No booking documentation flows through the agency system, so there is no paper trail if something goes wrong. And Atlas Coast's E and O insurance does not apply to consumer transactions made outside the agency relationship.
The rule is straightforward. Every booking for a client should go through a platform where your Atlas Coast CLIA or IATAN credentials are used, commission flows back through the agency, and proper business documentation exists. VRBO is the exception because it lives inside Expedia TAAP, which is a proper agent platform.
You can book flights for clients, but standalone airfare rarely makes financial sense for the agent. Airlines stopped paying commissions in the late 1990s, so a standalone flight booked through your agency today typically earns zero.
The support problem is just as real. When a flight is delayed or cancelled, your client calls you, and in most situations you have less ability to rebook than the passenger calling the airline directly. You absorb the stress with little authority to fix it.
Agents do book airfare as part of a bundled package where the overall commission justifies it, for high-value repeat clients who pay for convenience, or for complex international routings. For most trips, send clients to book their own flights, and let Expedia TAAP handle air plus hotel combinations when air is part of a complete package.
CLIA. Cruise Lines International Association, the primary accreditation body in the cruise industry. Your CLIA number is Atlas Coast's professional license in the cruise world. Atlas Coast CLIA is 00810443.
IATAN. International Airlines Travel Agent Network, the second major accreditation body. It is recognized across hotels, tour operators, and airlines, and unlocks supplier portals and agent perks. Most suppliers accept either CLIA or IATAN. Atlas Coast IATAN is 18602496.
TRUE Code. Travel Retailers Universal Enumeration, managed by Travel Leaders Network. When a hotel system asks for your travel agent number or consortium ID, they usually mean TRUE. Atlas Coast TRUE is 99937630.
VAX Agency ID. VAX Vacation Access is one specific wholesale packaging tool. The VAX Agency ID is your account number inside that platform, not a universal credential. Atlas Coast's VAX ID is the same as the CLIA, 00810443.
